Commending Juli M. Porto.
Agreed to by the Senate, February 6, 2025
WHEREAS, Juli M. Porto, a principal of the law firm Blankingship & Keith in Fairfax County, was named Leader of the Year by Virginia Lawyers Weekly in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Juli Porto holds a bachelor's degree in economics from New York University and a juris doctor degree from George Mason University; and
WHEREAS, in her practice, Juli Porto manages various appellate civil matters in the Court of Appeals of Virginia and the Supreme Court of Virginia, with a particular focus on personal injury matters with complex liability issues; and
WHEREAS, Juli Porto contributes to her firm's success by consulting with trial attorneys to develop legal theories of recovery and draft complaints, brief and argue dispositive and post-trial motions, and monitor trials in preparation for defending or prosecuting an appeal; and
WHEREAS, Juli Porto supports the legal profession as a member of the Virginia Bar Association's Appellate Section Council and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association's Amicus Committee and Judicial Relations Committee; and
WHEREAS, Juli Porto has shared her knowledge and expertise with the legal community by publishing articles in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association's Journal and Law360, as well as by teaching regular continuing legal education courses in appellate law to attorneys across the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Juli Porto has demonstrated a deep commitment to the well-being of others through her work as the national chair of the Ridehail Crime Victim Litigation Group and with the Veterans' service organization Service2School; and
WHEREAS, as a result of her extraordinary achievements as an attorney, Juli Porto has received numerous distinguished accolades over the years from industry organizations such as Super Lawyers and regional publications such as Virginia Business magazine; and
WHEREAS, Juli Porto's recent honor from Virginia Lawyers Weekly recognizes her steadfast dedication to advancing the legal profession, enhancing the justice system, and aiding the legal community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Juli M. Porto hereby be commended for being named the 2024 Leader of the Year by Virginia Lawyers Weekly; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Juli M. Porto as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her accomplishments in the practice of law and best wishes for her future endeavors.
