WHEREAS, Adria Vanhoozier, president of Riverside Doctors' Hospital Williamsburg, was appointed as chair of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign for 2024-2025; and
WHEREAS, raised in Christiansburg, Adria Vanhoozier earned a bachelor's degree in government at the University of Virginia and a master's degree in health administration from the Medical College of Virginia, now known as Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, before completing her residency at Riverside Doctors' Hospital Williamsburg (RDHW); and
WHEREAS, following her residency, Adria Vanhoozier continued on at RDHW, fulfilling a number of full-time business management roles, including that of cardiovascular and pulmonary service line administrator, before being named president in 2016; and
WHEREAS, in her role at RDHW, Adria Vanhoozier leads a nearly 400-member team providing exceptional healthcare services to the Williamsburg community, while consistently developing ways in which the hospital and its affiliated programs can expand their services and improve their quality of care; and
WHEREAS, Adria Vanhoozier has provided valued leadership through her service as chair of the City of Williamsburg's Economic Development Authority board, vice chair of the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce, and member of the boards of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Peninsula Emergency Medical Services Council, Walsingham Academy, and the Williamsburg Health Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Adria Vanhoozier co-leads the HEARTSafe Alliance of Greater Williamsburg, an initiative aimed at improving out-of-hospital cardiac event survival rates, and, as chair of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign, she will promote awareness of the prevalence of heart disease in women and work to identify gaps in services; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Adria Vanhoozier hereby be commended for her legacy of service upon being named chair of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign for 2024-2025; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Adria Vanhoozier as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her contributions to health and wellness in Williamsburg and the Commonwealth.
