A BILL to amend and reenact §5A-3-50 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, relating to a moratorium on state vehicle purchases.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That §5A-3-50 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 3. PURCHASING DIVISION.
§5A-3-50. Acquiring and disposing of vehicles and aircraft.
The secretary shall be empowered to purchase new vehicles and aircraft and dispose of old vehicles and aircraft as is practical from time to time: Provided, That the secretary, or his or her designee, shall not purchase any new or used vehicle on behalf of the state from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to put a one-year moratorium on state vehicle purchases.
