A BILL to amend and
reenact §8-29-6 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, relating to
requiring regional airport authority board members to include persons of area
expertise.
Be it enacted by the
Legislature of West Virginia:
That §8-29-6 of the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended,
be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 29. INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS - REGIONAL
AIRPORTS.
§8-29-6. Qualification of members.
(a) All members of the board of each authority shall be
residents of the municipality or county which said the members
represent.
(b) The members of the
airport authority must fairly represent different areas of interest, knowledge
and expertise. The members of the authority shall include at least:
(1) One active
commercial pilot holding at least a commercial pilot's license with related experience current with the
Federal Aviation Administration;
(2) One member with
aircraft maintenance experience holding at least an airframe and power plant
license issued by and current with the Federal Aviation Administration; and
(3) One member with
experience, knowledge and expertise in airport management.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require regional airport authority board members to include persons of area expertise.
