Requesting That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance engage in a study concerning the tourism related infrastructure and workforce issues post-COVID-19 pandemic in West Virginia.
Whereas, The COVID-19 pandemic had serious and long lasting negative impacts on West Virginia’s tourism infrastructure and workforce; and
Whereas, Assessment of tourism infrastructure improvements are in order as a means of addressing the negative impacts of the pandemic on West Virginia Tourism; and
Whereas, Assessment of tourism workforce training improvements are in order as a means of addressing the negative impacts of the pandemic on West Virginia Tourism; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance engage in a study concerning the tourism related infrastructure and workforce issues post-COVID-19 pandemic in West Virginia and identify means to alleviate and improve pandemic induced setbacks; and be it
Further Resolved, That the designated representatives of the Department of Tourism and Workforce West Virginia shall report its findings in writing to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance not later than the interim session of December 2023, for the purposes of preparing legislation for the 2024 Regular Session; and be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study, prepare a report, and draft necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
