A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §16-53-4, relating to requiring substance use disorder inpatient providers to provide transportation to their patients.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
ARTICLE 53. ESTABLISHING ADDITIONAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT FACILITIES.
§16-53-4. Requirement of substance use disorder treatment services to provide transportation.
In order to assist individuals in their recovery, upon discharging patients, residential substance use disorder service facilities in West Virginia shall offer those patients a means of transportation back to the individual’s state of birth, a state in which they have previously lived, or a state where they have a family support structure.
