Add Debate Response
The current laws are outdated and ultimately sexist. Most other states have brought their up to these modern standards. It's hard to understand why this would even be debated. This bill would encourage both parents to participate equally and give incentive to grow in their careers. The currently law encourages people to make less than the other in order to get 100% of child support. If the bill passes, both parents can advance in their careers without worrying about potential penalties. Simply because I make $1000 more annually, I have to 100% of the child support, over a 1/3rd of paycheck for 3 children. Also, it is tearing my family apart. Not everybody will "choose" to be fair and do whats right. I can barely feed my kids while my ex buys new timeshares! Sign this bill. Encourage split custody, stop penalizing families and encouraging fighting.
