AN ACT
AMENDING Title 15, chapter 14, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding article 6; relating to universities and community colleges.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 15, chapter 14, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding article 6, to read:
ARTICLE 6. STUDENT HOUSING
15-1861. Student housing; priority for persons in foster care
A. Each community college district that maintains student housing on a community college campus shall give housing priority to students at that community college who, when they were at least sixteen years of age, were in the custody of the department of economic security or a child welfare agency as defined in section 8‑501 pursuant to an out‑of‑home placement as defined in section 8‑501, including priority to housing facilities that remain open to students during holidays, semester breaks and other times when classes are not in session.
B. Each university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents shall give housing priority to students at that university who, when they were at least sixteen years of age, were in the custody of the department of economic security or a child welfare agency as defined in section 8‑501 pursuant to an out‑of‑home placement as defined in section 8‑501, including priority to housing facilities that remain open to students during holidays, semester breaks and other times when classes are not in session.
