A RESOLUTION
Welcoming the Ultimate Fighting Championship to the state of Arizona.
(TEXT OF BILL BEGINS ON NEXT PAGE)
Whereas, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), led by UFC President Dana White, is the fastest growing sports organization in the world; and
Whereas, the UFC started in 1993 as a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) organization; and
Whereas, according to the UFC's website, the "UFC has revolutionized the fight business, and today stands as the world's leading MMA promoter, offering the premier series of MMA sports events that have sold out some of the biggest arenas and stadiums across the globe"; and
Whereas, on Sunday, January 15, 2017, Phoenix will host UFC Fight Night at the Talking Stick Resort Arena; and
Whereas, a featherweight bout between "The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America" featherweight winner Yair Rodríguez and UFC Hall‑of‑Famer BJ Penn will headline the Phoenix event; and
Whereas, the State of Arizona is honored to have the privilege of hosting UFC Fight Night.
Therefore
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona:
That the Members of the House of Representatives welcome the UFC to the State of Arizona.
