AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-117; relating to organized physical activity in schools.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 1, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-117, to read:

START_STATUTE15-117.  Daily organized physical activity; policies; requirements

A.  Each school district governing board and charter school governing body shall adopt policies to require pupils in kindergarten programs and grades one through five to engage in daily organized physical activity outside or inside the classroom.

B.  Physical education classes may be used to satisfy the requirement prescribed in this section.

C.  Unstructured recess time that occurs immediately before or after lunch periods does not satisfy the requirement prescribed in this section. END_STATUTE
