	BILL TEXT

INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Bigelow

                        JANUARY 15, 2015

An act to amend Section 1253 of the Water Code, relating to water
rights.

	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 152, as introduced, Bigelow. Water rights: appropriation.
Under existing law, the State Water Resources Control Board
administers a water rights program pursuant to which the board grants
permits and licenses to appropriate water. Existing law requires the
board to allow the appropriation for beneficial purposes of
unappropriated water under terms and conditions as in its judgment
will best develop, conserve, and utilize in the public interest the
water sought to be appropriated.
This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to these
provisions.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 1253 of the Water Code is amended to read:
1253. The board shall allow the appropriation for beneficial
purposes of unappropriated water under such terms
and conditions as in its judgment will best develop, conserve, and
utilize in the public interest the water sought to be appropriated.
