BILL NUMBER: AB 2258 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Bass FEBRUARY 18, 2010 An act relating to sentencing. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2258, as introduced, Bass. California Public Safety Commission. Existing law prescribes various penalties for criminal offenses. This bill would create the California Public Safety Commission, an independent, multijurisdictional body to provide a nonpartisan forum for statewide policy development, information development, research, and planning concerning criminal sentences and their effects. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. There is hereby established the California Public Safety Commission, an independent, multijurisdictional body to provide a nonpartisan forum for statewide policy development, information development, research, and planning concerning criminal sentences and their effects.
