BILL NUMBER: AB 2509 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Hayashi FEBRUARY 19, 2010 An act relating to transportation. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2509, as introduced, Hayashi. Bicycles: parking. Existing law establishes various bicycle and other programs related to nonmotorized transportation within the Department of Transportation. This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would decrease traffic congestion and carbon emissions by promoting the use of alternative modes of transportation through, among other things, requiring owners of buildings to provide bicycle parking. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would decrease traffic congestion and carbon emissions by promoting the use of alternative modes of transportation through, among other things, requiring owners of buildings to provide bicycle parking.
