An act to amend Section 1501 of the Vehicle Code, relating to vehicles.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 2947, as introduced, Fong. Department of Motor Vehicles.

Existing law establishes the Department of Motor Vehicles within the Transportation Agency. Existing law states the department is the successor of several previous state departments relating to motor vehicles, including the Motor Vehicle Department, the Division of Motor Vehicles of the Department of Finance, and all other state agencies of similar designation.

This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

Section 1501 of the Vehicle Code is amended to read:

1501.

The department is the successor to to, and is hereby vested with all of the powers, duties, purposes, responsibilities, and jurisdiction ~~now or hereafter~~ vested by law in in, the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Motor Vehicle Department, the Motor Vehicle Department of California, the Division of Motor Vehicles of the Department of Finance, the Division of Motor Vehicles of the Department of Public Works, and all other state agencies of similar designation, or in the several heads, members, officers, and employees of each ~~thereof.~~ of those agencies.
