An act relating to school meals.


LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


AB 2949, as introduced, Limón. High quality, healthy, and nutritious school meals.
Existing law requires a school district, county superintendent of schools, or charter school maintaining kindergarten or any of grades 1 to 12, inclusive, to provide a needy pupil with one nutritionally adequate free or reduced-price meal during each schoolday. Existing law requires, as a condition of receipt of funds to reimburse a school for free and reduced-price meals sold or served to pupils, the school to comply with specified requirements and prohibitions, including certain nutritional standards.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would ensure school meals are high quality, healthy, and nutritious for all pupils.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would ensure school meals are high quality, healthy, and nutritious for all pupils.
