CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE—
2023–2024 REGULAR SESSION
Assembly Bill
No. 34
Introduced by Assembly Member Valencia |
December 05, 2022 |
An act relating to elections.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
AB 34, as introduced, Valencia.
Elections: independent redistricting commissions.
Existing law defines “independent redistricting commission” to mean a body, other than a legislative body, that is empowered to adopt the district boundaries of a legislative body. Existing law permits a local jurisdiction to establish an independent redistricting commission to change the legislative body’s district boundaries.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation to establish an independent redistricting commission in the County of Orange.
