INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Brown

                        FEBRUARY 26, 2015

An act to amend Section 1814 of the Vehicle Code, relating to the
Department of Motor Vehicles.

	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

AB 917, as introduced, Brown. Department of Motor Vehicles:
automobile registration service.
Existing law requires a person engaged in the business of
examining the records of the department and supplying that
information to the public for compensation to first apply for a
permit.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to those
provisions.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Section 1814 of the Vehicle Code is amended to read:
1814. Any A person engaged in the
business of examining the records of the department and supplying
information relative thereto to those records
to the public for compensation shall first obtain a permit
from the director. The director shall grant such a
that permit when he or she determines that the
applicant is qualified and intends in good faith to carry on
such that business, and when the
applicant files with the director a bond in the amount of five
thousand dollars ($5,000).
