   An act relating to community colleges.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 1070, as introduced, Steinberg. California Community Colleges
Economic and Workforce Development Program: career-technical
education pathways.
   Existing law, until January 1, 2013, establishes the California
Community Colleges Economic and Workforce Development Program.
Existing law requires the Board of Governors of the California
Community Colleges, as part of the program, to assist economic and
workforce regional development centers and consortia to improve,
among other things, career-technical education pathways between high
schools and community colleges, as specified.
   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to reauthorize and improve those career-technical
education pathways.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to reauthorize and improve the career-technical education
pathways initiative established pursuant to Section 88532 of the
Education Code.
