CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE—
2023–2024 REGULAR SESSION
Senate Bill
No. 1426
Introduced by Senator Blakespear |
February 16, 2024 |
An act to amend Section 3241 of the Public Resources Code, relating to oil and gas.
LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST
SB 1426, as introduced, Blakespear.
Oil and gas: abandoned wells.
Existing law requires the State Oil and Gas Supervisor, in cooperation with appropriate state and local agencies, to develop a strategy for extracting existing accumulations of methane gas and other hazardous gas from abandoned oil and gas wells in high-risk areas identified by the supervisor to protect the health and safety of the public.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to that provision.
