BILL NUMBER: SB 198 INTRODUCED BILL TEXT INTRODUCED BY Senator Cannella FEBRUARY 8, 2011 An act to amend Section 163 of the Military and Veterans Code, relating to the state militia. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST SB 198, as introduced, Cannella. State militia: Adjutant General: duties. Existing law requires the Adjutant General to perform various duties with regard to the National Guard as are prescribed in the Military and Veterans Code and any additional duties that are consistent with the regulations and customs of the federal military organizations, as specified. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 163 of the Military and Veterans Code is amended to read: 163. The Adjutant General shall performsuchthose duties as are prescribed in this code andsuchany additional duties consistent with the regulations and customs of the United States Army, United States Air Force, andtheUnited States Navy as may be prescribed by the Governor.HeThe Adjutant General shall issue all orders in the name of the Governor.
