CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE— 2023–2024 REGULAR SESSION

Senate Bill
No. 663

Introduced by Senator Archuleta

February 16, 2023

An act relating to air resources.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST

SB 663, as introduced, Archuleta. Clean hydrogen.
Existing law, until January 1, 2024, requires the state board to aggregate and make available certain information regarding hydrogen-fueled vehicles, to evaluate, based on that information, the need for additional publicly available hydrogen-fueling stations for the actual and projected number of hydrogen-fueled vehicles, the geographic areas where fuel will be needed, and station coverage, and to report the finding of the evaluation to the State Energy Resources Conservation and Development Commission. Existing law states the intent of the Legislature that the California Environmental Protection Agency and the state board, as part of the implementation of the California Hydrogen Highway Blueprint Plan, include in their priorities the deployment of hydrogen or clean hydrogen blend fueled transit buses. Existing law authorizes the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development to undertake measures that are necessary or useful to prepare and submit an application to receive federal funding from the regional clean hydrogen hubs program or otherwise participate in the clean hydrogen hubs program.
This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation related to clean hydrogen.
Vote: MAJORITY   Appropriation: NO   Fiscal Committee: NO   Local Program: NO

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
