An act to amend Section 14296 of the Elections Code, relating to elections.


LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


SB 77, as introduced, Nielsen. Elections: ballots.
Existing law provides that, on election day, a voter who does not vote the ballot the voter has received shall, before leaving the polling place, return it to the precinct board member having charge of the ballots, who shall immediately cancel it.
This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to this provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 14296 of the Elections Code is amended to read:

14296.
 Any voter who does not vote the ballot he or she the voter has received, shall, before leaving the polling place, return it to the board member having charge of the ballots, who shall immediately cancel it. All canceled ballots shall be returned to the ballot clerk in the same manner as spoiled ballots.
