AN ACT CONCERNING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR RECIPIENTS OF BENEFITS UNDER THE TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES PROGRAM.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 17b-688i of the general statutes be amended to permit recipients of benefits under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program, who do not have a high school diploma or the equivalent, to attend educational courses to satisfy the first twenty hours of work experience or employment required under the employment services program.

Statement of Purpose:

To allow recipients of benefits under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program to use a greater percentage of their time for education.
