AN ACT CONCERNING TRAINING FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS IN YOUTH SUICIDE PREVENTION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 20 of the general statutes be amended to require each (1) professional counselor, alcohol and drug counselor, marital and family therapist, occupational therapist, psychologist, clinical social worker and master social worker to complete three to six hours of training every six years in youth suicide prevention, and (2) physician, physician assistant, chiropractor, naturopath, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, physical therapist and physical therapist assistant to complete a one-time, three to six hour training course in youth suicide prevention.

Statement of Purpose:

To further train health care professionals in youth suicide prevention.
