AN ACT CONCERNING DOGS AT STATE CAMPGROUNDS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2010) The Commissioner of Environmental Protection, in consultation with the Commissioner of Public Health, shall adopt regulations, in accordance with the provisions of chapter 54 of the general statutes, that authorize people to have dogs at camp sites in not more than fifty per cent of state parks with existing camp sites. Such regulations shall include, but not be limited to: (1) A limit on the number of dogs that a person may have at a camp site, (2) proof, from a veterinarian licensed pursuant to chapter 384 of the general statutes, of vaccinations required prior to authorizing the presence of any such dog at a camp site, and (3) rules concerning the restraint or control of the dog by the person authorized to have such dog at the camp site in order to assure the safety of other persons utilizing the camp site and to prevent (A) the destruction of personal property at such camp site, and (B) the spoliation of any part of the camp site.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
