AN ACT CONCERNING UNFAIR INSURANCE PRACTICES AND INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR MENTAL OR NERVOUS CONDITIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 38a of the general statutes be amended to specify that it shall be an unfair insurance practice to refuse to insure, refuse to continue to insure or limit the amount, extent or kind of coverage available to an individual or charge a different rate for the same coverage because such individual has been diagnosed with a mental or nervous condition, as defined in sections 38a-488a and 38a-514 of the general statutes.

Statement of Purpose:

To specify that it shall be an unfair insurance practice to refuse to insure, refuse to continue to insure or limit the amount, extent or kind of coverage available to an individual or charge a different rate for the same coverage because such individual has been diagnosed with a mental or nervous condition, as defined in sections 38a-488a and 38a-514 of the general statutes.
