AN ACT CONCERNING THE CONTACT LIST FOR MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES AND VETERANS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to provide (1) that the Department of Motor Vehicles shall include on any new or renewal application for a driver's license or state identification card a question asking whether the applicant is a member of the armed forces or a veteran who would like to receive information regarding veterans' benefits, (2) that the Department of Motor Vehicles, upon an affirmative response by such applicant, shall forward the name and address of the applicant to the Department of Veterans' Affairs, and (3) that upon receipt of such information, the Department of Veterans' Affairs shall add the contact information of such applicant to the contact list for members of the armed forces and veterans established in subsection (b) of section 27-100c of the general statutes.
Statement of Purpose:
To allow the Department of Veterans' Affairs to identify members of the armed forces and veterans who may be eligible for certain benefits and to provide information concerning veterans' benefits to such members and veterans.
