Law 22-189 updates the Uniform Law on Notarial Acts to among other things, recognize and facilitate notarizations using electronic records and harmonize the use of electronic notarizations with District and federal law concerning electronic transactions. The Committee incorporated language from two bills, B22-324, "Notary Public Electronic Establishment and Enhancement Amendment Act of 2017", and B22-467,"Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts of 2017" to bring the District's notarial laws up to date. Renamed by committee to "Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts Act of 2018". FUNDING NOTE - This law is Subject to Appropriations. See Fiscal Impact Statement in "Other Documents" tab.
