HOUSE BILL NO. 248

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 14 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO EDUCATOR LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Section 1. Amend Chapter 12, Title 14 of the Delaware Code by inserting a new §1265 as shown by underlining as follows:

§1265.Report to General Assembly on Teach for America program.

On or before January 20, 2015, the Department of Education shall provide a report to the General Assembly on the effectiveness of the Teach for America Program.Such report shall include a statistical analysis of student performance in Teach for America classrooms, as well as tracking the retention of Teach for America participants in the field of education.


SYNOPSIS

This bill requires the Department of Education to provide a report to the General Assembly 3 months prior to the sunset date of the enabling legislation for the Teach for America program regarding the efficacy of that program.This will allow the General Assembly to make an informed decision regarding further extensions of Delaware's participation in the Teach for America program.
