HOUSE BILL NO. 273

AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 14 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO A FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS.


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:


Section 1.Amend §122(b), Title 14 of the Delaware Code by adding thereto the following underlined new paragraph to read:

§ 122(b).The Department [of Education] shall prescribe rules and regulations:

(27) Establishing and monitoring a mandatory financial literacy program for high school seniors in all public schools, including charter schools, in this State.The Secretary and the State Treasurer shall jointly agree upon the curriculum of the program.


SYNOPSIS

This bill establishes a mandatory financial literacy program for high school seniors in all public schools, including charter schools.The Secretary of the Department of Education and the State Treasurer shall develop and agree upon the curriculum of the program.
