149th GENERAL ASSEMBLY
SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 8
DESIGNATING APRIL 6 2017, "AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY DAY" IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE
WHEREAS, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary is the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization; and
WHEREAS, there are 17 active American Legion Auxiliary Units in the state of Delaware; and
WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Delaware members volunteer countless hours, donate and raise funds to enhance the lives of veterans and their families, and make a difference in communities across Delaware; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Delaware administers programs that support and advocate for veterans and active duty military, contribute to youth development, and provide family and community support; and
WHEREAS, Mary E. Davis was elected national president of the American Legion Auxiliary during the organization’s 96 th National Convention in Cincinnati, and will serve as national president for one year; and
WHEREAS, Davis has chosen to highlight American Legion Auxiliary Member Pride for her term as national president;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 149 th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of
Representatives concurring therein, that April 6, 2017 be designated as “American Legion Auxiliary Day” in the state of Delaware.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable prepared copy of this Resolution be presented to Mary E. Davis, National President of the American Legion Auxiliary.
SYNOPSIS
This Resolution designates April 6 2017 "American Legion Auxiliary Day" in the state of Delaware.
