SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 17
RECOGNIZING THE WORK OF THE WE ARE THE MOMS FOUNDATION TO BRING AWARENESS TO THE DEVASTATION CAUSED BY FIREARM VIOLENCE.
WHEREAS, firearm homicide and suicide deaths are at record high levels in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that there were more than 48,000 firearm-related deaths in the United States in 2022; and
WHEREAS, firearm injuries are the leading cause of death for children and teens between ages 1 and 19; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the We Are The Moms Foundation is to provide support, healing, and understanding to mothers who have tragically lost their children to homicide, violence, or suicide; and
WHEREAS, the We Are the Moms Foundation strives to bring awareness to the tragedy of firearm violence and the need for improved support systems for grieving mothers; and
WHEREAS, the members of the We Are The Moms Foundation seek to honor the memories of their children by working toward a future where no mother has to endure the loss of a child to firearm violence.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 152 nd General Assembly of the State of Delaware that the Senate recognizes the We Are The Moms Foundation for its dedication to raising awareness and supporting mothers who have lost children to firearm violence.
SYNOPSIS
This Senate Resolution recognizes the We Are The Moms Foundation for its contributions toward raising awareness of firearm violence in the State of Delaware and providing support to victims’ families.
