A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to motor vehicle license plates;
3creating s. 320.0892, F.S.; providing for the
4Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to
5issue Silver Star, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy
6Cross, and Air Force Cross license plates, without
7payment of the license tax, to persons meeting
8specified criteria; providing an effective date.

10Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
11
12     Section 1.  Section 320.0892, Florida Statutes is created
13to read:
14     320.0892  Motor vehicle license plates for recipients of
15the Silver Star, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, or Air
16Force Cross.-Upon receipt of an application and proof that the
17applicant meets the qualifications listed in this section for
18the applicable license plate, the department shall issue the
19license plate without payment of the license tax imposed under
20s. 320.08:
21     (1)  SILVER STAR.-Any United States citizen who is a
22resident of Florida and who was awarded the Silver Star while
23serving as a member of the United States Armed Forces shall be
24issued a license plate on which is stamped the words "Silver
25Star" followed by the serial number.
26     (2)  DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS.-Any United States citizen
27who is a resident of Florida and who was awarded the
28Distinguished Service Cross while serving as a member of the
29United States Armed Forces shall be issued a license plate on
30which is stamped the words "Distinguished Service Cross"
31followed by the serial number.
32     (3)  NAVY CROSS.-Any United States citizen who is a
33resident of Florida and who was awarded the Navy Cross while
34serving as a member of the United States Armed Forces shall be
35issued a license plate on which is stamped the words "Navy
36Cross" followed by the serial number.
37     (4)  AIR FORCE CROSS.-Any United States citizen who is a
38resident of Florida and who was awarded the Air Force Cross
39while serving as a member of the United States Armed Forces
40shall be issued a license plate on which is stamped the words
41"Air Force Cross" followed by the serial number.
42     Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 2012.
