1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to personal transport devices; amending s.
3	316.003, F.S.; revising the definition of the term
4	"electric personal assistive mobility device" for purposes
5	of the Florida Uniform Traffic Control Law; providing an
6	effective date.

8	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10	Section 1. Subsection (83) of section 316.003, Florida
11	Statutes, is amended to read:
12	316.003 Definitions.-The following words and phrases, when
13	used in this chapter, shall have the meanings respectively
14	ascribed to them in this section, except where the context
15	otherwise requires:
16	(83) ELECTRIC PERSONAL ASSISTIVE MOBILITY DEVICE.-Any
17	self-balancing, two-nontandem-wheeled device, designed to
18	transport only one person, with an electric propulsion system
19	with average power of up to 750 watts (1 horsepower), the
20	maximum speed of which, on a paved level surface when powered
21	solely by such a propulsion system while being ridden by an
22	operator who weighs 170 pounds, is less than 20 miles per hour.
23	Electric personal assistive mobility devices are not vehicles as
24	defined in this section.
25	Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
