    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to a duty of candor to alleged
    3         victims; creating s. 960.0023, F.S.; requiring certain
    4         persons to disclose their identity and, if
    5         representing or working on behalf of another, the
    6         identity of that other person and his or her relation
    7         to that person when contacting an alleged victim of a
    8         crime or a delinquent act to obtain information
    9         relating to the alleged victim or the crime or
   10         delinquent act; providing criminal penalties;
   11         providing an effective date.
   12          
   13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   14  
   15         Section 1. Section 960.0023, Florida Statutes, is created
   16  to read:
   17         960.0023 Duty of candor to an alleged victim.—A person who
   18  has been arrested or charged with a crime or a delinquent act,
   19  as well as that person’s attorney or agent, who contacts the
   20  alleged victim to obtain information relating to the alleged
   21  victim of the crime or delinquent act must disclose his or her
   22  identity and, in the case of an attorney or agent, the identity
   23  of the person he or she represents or on whose behalf he or she
   24  is working and his or her relation to that person. A person who
   25  violates this section commits a misdemeanor of the second
   26  degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
   27         Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 2023.
