Florida Senate - 2016 SB 1304 By Senator Dean 5-01023A-16 20161304__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to specialty license plates; amending 3 s. 320.08056, F.S.; establishing an annual use fee for 4 the Paddle Florida license plate; amending s. 5 320.08058, F.S.; requiring the Department of Highway 6 Safety and Motor Vehicles to create a Paddle Florida 7 license plate; providing for the distribution of use 8 fees received from the sale of such plates; providing 9 an effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. Paragraph (ffff) is added to subsection (4) of 14 section 320.08056, Florida Statutes, to read: 15 320.08056 Specialty license plates.— 16 (4) The following license plate annual use fees shall be 17 collected for the appropriate specialty license plates: 18 (ffff) Paddle Florida license plate, $25. 19 Section 2. Subsection (84) is added to section 320.08058, 20 Florida Statutes, to read: 21 320.08058 Specialty license plates.— 22 (84) PADDLE FLORIDA LICENSE PLATES.— 23 (a) The department shall develop a Paddle Florida license 24 plate as provided in this section and s. 320.08053. The word 25 “Florida” must appear at the top of the plate, and words that 26 are approved by the department must appear at the bottom of the 27 plate. 28 (b) The department shall retain all annual use fees from 29 the sale of such plates until the startup costs for developing 30 and issuing the plates have been recovered. Thereafter, the 31 annual use fees from the sale of the plate shall be distributed 32 to Paddle Florida, Inc., which may use up to 10 percent of the 33 proceeds for administrative costs and marketing of the plate. 34 The balance of the annual use fees shall be used by the Florida 35 Forever program to support activities that further outdoor 36 recreation and natural resource protection. 37 Section 3. This act shall take effect October 1, 2016.
