A RESOLUTION

Commending Mrs. Michelle Plemons Sanders, the 2011 Floyd County School System Teacher of the Year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most important objective of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, dedication and diligence by committed teachers foster excellence in education; and

WHEREAS, the annual Teacher of the Year awards are made by local school districts in recognition of teaching excellence; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Michelle Plemons Sanders has earned distinction and numerous awards for teaching excellence as a result of her dedication to her students and her profession and has been honored as the 2011 Floyd County School System Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Sanders earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of West Georgia and holds an art degree from Georgia Highlands College; and

WHEREAS, she is a third grade teacher at Garden Lakes Elementary School, where she creates a calm and relaxed atmosphere for her students to optimize learning; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Sanders uses a workshop method for teaching in which she introduces the concept students are to be learning at the beginning of class and then allows students to participate in learning centers to reenforce the lesson; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her contributions to the education and welfare of young people in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary accomplishments and academic achievements of this outstanding individual.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend heartily Mrs. Michelle Plemons Sanders, the 2011 Floyd County School System Teacher of the Year, and express to her their sincere best wishes for continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Michelle Plemons Sanders.
