A RESOLUTION

Urging the United States Congress to fund fully the Resource Conservation and Development Program; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Resource Conservation and Development Program is funded in the Natural Resources Conservation Service budget of the United States Department of Agriculture; and

WHEREAS, this program establishes resource conservation and development councils which are the leadership of locally led initiatives; and

WHEREAS, members of the councils are volunteers and include local, civil, appointed, and elected officials; and

WHEREAS, the councils are nonprofit entities which address otherwise unmet needs in local communities; and

WHEREAS, the fiscal year 2010 proposed administration budget eliminates the Resource Conservation and Development Program; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of his body urge the United States Congress to support full funding of the Resource Conservation Development Program in the 2010 fiscal year budget and each fiscal year budget thereafter so that the vital services of the Resource Conservation and Development Program will continue.
