A
RESOLUTION
Urging
the Congress of the United States to investigate the reasons for the volatile
fluctuation in oil and gasoline prices in the United States; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
in the last three years the price of gasoline in the United States has
fluctuated between $4.00 a gallon and $1.50 a gallon; and
WHEREAS,
the economic theory of supply and demand does not adequately explain the
volatile fluctuation in oil and gasoline prices; and
WHEREAS,
in these turbulent economic times, many Americans are having to decide between
putting gasoline in the car or food on the table; and
WHEREAS,
the high price of oil has decreased the ability of many Americans to pay their
bills, which causes a lot of stress in individual and family lives;
and
WHEREAS,
even as the American people are sacrificing their quality of life, companies
that produce and refine oil are recording all time record profits;
and
WHEREAS,
the American people have the right to know why oil and gasoline prices are so
volatile.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body urge the Congress of the United States to investigate the causes for
the fluctuation in oil and gasoline prices in the United States.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each member
of the Georgia congressional delegation.
