A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Lemon family and the W.D. Lemon & Sons Funeral Home on 50
years of dedicated service; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Lemon family has been providing high quality, compassionate service to
families for the last 50 years; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Willie D. Lemon began his career in the mortuary services industry on
February 22, 1959, with Lemon & Helton Funeral Home in McDonough, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
in 1965, Mr. Lemon established Lemon's Funeral Home at 300 Griffin Street in
McDonough, determined to provide the best funeral services in the area;
and
WHEREAS,
shortly after the grand opening, Mr. Lemon's wife, Mary, joined the business,
along with their sons, Bobby and Sherman; and
WHEREAS,
both sons received extensive training, with Bobby earning a degree from Kentucky
School of Mortuary Science and Sherman graduating from Gupton-Jones College of
Funeral Services; and
WHEREAS,
through dedication, hard work, and determination, the Lemon family acquired an
additional facility in 1976 at 2090 Joylake Road in Morrow, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
in 1994, Mr. Lemon's youngest daughter, Dana, left her career in business to
earn a degree from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Services and join the
thriving family business; and
WHEREAS,
after Mr. Lemon's passing in 1997, Mrs. Lemon ably and devotedly led the family
business, bringing in two additional family members, Sandra and Shannon, as
funeral directors and encouraged participation by the remaining Lemon children,
Dorothy, Katheryn, and Wanda, and several grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
Bobby has diligently and conscientiously led the business since 2005 after Mrs.
Lemon's passing, continuing the family tradition of providing proficient,
thoughtful, and caring services to the people of McDonough and
Morrow.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the members of the Lemon family and the W.D. Lemon & Sons Funeral Home for
their kind and sensitive service to their community for 50 years and extend to
them their sincere best wishes for continued success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Lemon & Sons
Funeral Home.
