A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dr. Nanette K. Wenger; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Hunter College and the Harvard Medical School, Dr. Nanette K.
Wenger is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory
University's School of Medicine; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Wenger serves as Chief of Cardiology at Grady Memorial Hospital and a
consultant to the Emory Heart and Vascular Center; and
WHEREAS,
her leadership and guidance were instrumental as past vice-president of the
American Heart Association, past governor for Georgia of the American College of
Cardiology, and past president of the Georgia Heart Association;
and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Wenger is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, the American College
of Cardiology, the Society of Geriatric Cardiology, the American Association of
Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and the American College of Chest
Physicians; and
WHEREAS,
she is an active member of committees, scientific advisory boards, task forces,
and councils of the American Medical Association, the American College of
Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the Society of Geriatric Cardiology,
and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; and
WHEREAS,
her skill and commitment to the field of medicine have been recognized by the
American Heart Association with awards such as the Distinguished Achievement
Award, the Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award, and the Gold Heart Award;
and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Wenger received the James E. Bruce Memorial Award from the American College
of Physicians for distinguished contributions in preventative medicine and was
named Physician of the Year by the American Heart Association; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished physician be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Dr. Nanette K. Wenger for her many contributions to the field of
medicine.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Nanette K. Wenger.
