A RESOLUTION


Congratulating Honorable Earnestine Pittman upon her election as mayor of the City of East Point; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Honorable Earnestine Pittman recently took the oath of office to serve as mayor of the City of East Point, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Pittman earned a bachelor's degree from Spelman College and a master's degree in education from Georgia State University; and

WHEREAS, before beginning her term as mayor, she diligently and conscientiously served the City of East Point as a member of the city council; and

WHEREAS, a natural leader, Mayor Pittman is the former president of Atlanta Federation of Teachers; and

WHEREAS, as mayor, Mayor Pittman will tackle the financial and economic issues facing the City of East Point and develop methods for maximizing the city's resources to best serve East Point; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Pittman will focus her administration on goal setting, accountability for taxpayer funds, communication with residents, and reaching out to the city council to improve the quality of life for residents; and

WHEREAS, her experience as a public official will allow her to lead the city to new heights and experience economic growth and development; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Pittman's foresight, vision, and leadership skills have earned her the respect of her colleagues and associates, and her commitment to making the City of East Point the best city in this state is worthy of recognition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Honorable Earnestine Pittman on her many contributions to the City of East Point, Fulton County, and the State of Georgia, and extend to her congratulations on her new position as mayor.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Honorable Earnestine Pittman.
