A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to child care.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 346-156, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

     "§346-156  Penalty.  Any person violating any provision of this [chapter] part or any rule made pursuant thereto shall be guilty of a class C felony and shall be fined as follows:

     (1)  Up to [$1,000] $6,000 for the first violation; and

     (2)  Up to [$3,000] $8,000 for the second violation and each succeeding violation."

     SECTION 2.  This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun before its effective date.

     SECTION 3.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
