A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to WORLD OCEAN DAY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 8-12, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:
"[[]§8-12 []]
World Ocean Day. The first Wednesday of June shall be known and
designated as World Ocean Day, in recognition of the very significant
role the ocean plays in the lives of Hawaii's people, as well as Hawaii's
culture, history, and traditions. This day is not and shall not be construed
as a state holiday."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
