A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to government operations.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 78-29, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (a) to read as follows:

     "(a)  Each chief executive may establish incentive and service awards programs to recognize employees who contribute to the efficiency, economy, or other improvement of government operations or who perform exceptionally meritorious special acts or services in the public interest in connection with or related to their official employment.  The programs may allow appointing authorities to establish their own programs that are consistent with the policies of the chief executive."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
