A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO capital improvement projects for the benefit of the forty-eighth representative district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2009-2010.
1. To be expended by the University of Hawaii:
Windward community college, Oahu
Construction and equipment for a new library; ground and site improvements; and equipment and appurtenances.
Construction $ 40,168,000
Equipment 2,988,000
Total funding $ 43,156,000
2. To be expended by the department of
education:
A. James B. Castle high school, Oahu
Design, construction, and equipment to expand the cafeteria dining room for additional student dining; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.
Design $ 300,000
Construction 2,600,000
Equipment 200,000
Total funding $ 3,100,000
B. James B. Castle high school, Oahu
Construction and equipment for the installation of an all weather track and field; site and ground improvements; and appurtenances.
Construction $ 1,600,000
Equipment 20,000
Total funding $ 1,620,000
C. James B. Castle high school, Oahu
Design, construction, and equipment for the installation of an artificial turf football field; site and ground improvements; and appurtenances.
Design $ 120,000

D. Heeia elementary school, Oahu
Design and construction for the expansion of the parking lot; ground and site improvements; and equipment and appurtenances.

E. Kaneohe elementary school, Oahu
Design and construction for the expansion of the parking lot to conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act; ground and site improvements; and equipment and appurtenances.

F. Kapunahala elementary school
Plans, design, and construction of a mechanical lift to transport wheelchair bound students from the first to second floors in building G; and ground and site improvements.

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2009.
