A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO MARINE LIFE CONSERVATION DISTRICTS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 190, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§190- Laniakea
beach marine life conservation district; established. (a)
The department of land and natural resources shall establish the Laniakea
beach marine life conservation district extending seaward for one mile from the
shoreline of Laniakea beach on the north shore of Oahu identified by TMK
1-6-1-010-017-0000 into state marine waters.
(b) In addition to the restrictions established for
marine life conservation areas pursuant to section 190-1, the following shall
be prohibited within the Laniakea beach marine life conservation district:
(1) Operation of
thrill craft;
(2) Parasailing;
(3) Swimming;
(4) Operation of
motorized vessels;
(5) Water sledding;
(6) High speed
boating; and
(7) Commercial
activity.
(c) The department of land and natural resources shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 91 as necessary to implement this section."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
