STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

MAKING EMERGENCY APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE OPERATIONS OF THE OFFICE OF THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 

     SECTION 1.  This Act is recommended by the governor for immediate passage in accordance with section 9 of article VII of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii.

     SECTION 2.  The recent appointment of the former lieutenant governor to the United States Senate and subsequent succession of a member of the legislature to the position of lieutenant governor resulted in unanticipated additional costs.

     The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds as an emergency appropriation for costs associated with the operations of the lieutenant governor's office.

     SECTION 3.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $131,759 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2012-2013 to be used by the office of the lieutenant governor (LTG 100).

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the office of the lieutenant governor for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $85,654 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2012-2013 to be used by the sheriff (PSD503) for purposes of providing protection to the lieutenant governor.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of public safety for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 5.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $105,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2012-2013 to be used by public works – planning, design, & construction (AGS221) for costs related to the operations of the office of the lieutenant governor.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 6.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
