HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

Urging the United states congress to designate the honor and remember flag as a national symbol of our nation's concern and commitment to honoring and remembering the lives of all members of the us armed forces who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, the United States has not designated an official symbol commemorating fallen service members despite the numerous lives that have been sacrificed since the birth of the nation; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Honor and Remember Flag, created by Honor and Remember Inc., contains vivid symbolism representing America's fallen soldiers and the values they represent; and

 

     WHEREAS, this symbolism includes a red field representing the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for freedom, a blue star recognizing active service in military conflict since World War I, a white field commemorating the purity of sacrifice, a gold star honoring the ultimate sacrifice of a warrior in active service, a folded flag highlighting this country's final tribute to a fallen service member and their family's sacrifice, and a flame symbolizing the eternal spirit of the departed warrior; and

 

     WHEREAS, the 111th United States Congress is currently considering House Resolution No. 1034, which designates the Honor and Remember Flag as an official symbol to recognize and honor members of the armed forces who have fallen in the line of duty; now, therefore,
     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2010, the Senate concurring, that this Legislature hereby urges the United States Congress to designate the Honor and Remember Flag as a national symbol of our nation's concern and commitment to honoring and remembering the lives of all members of the US armed forces who have lost their lives in the line of duty; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to each member of Hawaii's congressional delegation.
