HOUSE RESOLUTION
congratulating JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF HAWAII on over 50 years of service and the Business Hall of Fame laureates on their contributions to economic prosperity in Hawaii.
WHEREAS, very few organizations have dedicated so much of their time and resources to help create a working partnership with Hawaii's young people to learn about financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1957, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF HAWAII has provided an environment for dedicated business partners to educate and inspire future leaders to value free enterprise, business, and economics to improve the quality of their lives; and
WHEREAS, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF HAWAII collaborates with partners to implement financial literacy programs in elementary through high schools and promotes work readiness and entrepreneurship among students to help them succeed in a global economy; and
WHEREAS, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF HAWAII is a part of an international organization that has become the world's largest and one of the best managed economic education partnership programs, reaching over six million students in the United States and in nearly 100 member nations; and
WHEREAS, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF HAWAII encourages hands-on learning for students through partnerships among the business, military, and education communities; and
WHEREAS, in 1975, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF HAWAII established a Business Hall of Fame which recognizes distinguished laureates who have made advancements in free enterprise and improvements in business operations; and
WHEREAS, on March 8, 2013, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF HAWAII is honoring three distinguished laureates, Randal M. Hiraki, Ralph S. Inouye, and Russell Oda, for their entrepreneurial spirit and exceptional management skills; and
WHEREAS, achieving a high level of respect within Hawaii's business community, these laureates have accumulated over 160 years of experience; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2013, that this body hereby congratulates JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF HAWAII on over 50 years of service and the Business Hall of Fame laureates on their contributions to economic prosperity in Hawaii, and acknowledges the benefits of educating Hawaii's young individuals on financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.
